Team Viewer and Pibspeex

We have found an amazing piece of software, which will enable us to do Online Support in the real sense of the word.

Team Viewer is software which will enable us to log onto any Computer which is connected to the internet, without any proxy configuration whatsoever, to perform tasks directly on the Clients PC.

No more long phone calls with the Support engineer giving you instructions what to do.

Log onto www.hr4all.co.za and proceed to the downloads Page. Simply save the setup file on your computer. When you want online support from Psi Systems, simply double click on the icon and run it. No need to do an installation.

With the exchange of the process Id and Password we can have your problem solved quicker than ever.

Version 26.00

With version 26.00 of Pibspeex and Compindex we aim to solve all reported technical issues. Each update and installation from now on will install a default set of system tables each time. Deleting all previous tables and recreating and populating them with fresh information. This way we have more control over updates that might go wrong.

Pibspeex has undergone a long awaited facelift. All test booklets and answer sheets has a more unified look, which reads easier and is more pleasing to the eye. Also included into this update are all new narratives, which give the test administrator a better description of what the test is al about and also what the candidate in question achieved on this particular test.

We have discontinued the use of SQL server as a Database engine for Pibspeex. We are currently working on MY SQL, as a database engine for the software. My SQL is easier to install and a lot less configuration is needed. We will provide more information in this regards as soon as we have a working System on this Engine.

Version 25.00

With this version of Compindex and Pibspeex we aim to solve all reported technical issues. With some previous updates of Compindex and Pibspeex we have found that old errors recurred after updates. This version addresses all these issues as well. For a more technical perspective on what happens with the Update please feel free to visit our technical Blog site. Also built into this version is the SQL server compatibility issues with some reports. When running Version 25.00 the application would detect what kind of database you are running - SQL or MS Access – and update either one depending on the system configuration.

After the “facelift” of the reports of Compindex and Pibspeex we did redesign all the Answer sheets and the test booklets of Compindex. For now the documentation has a more unified look, which reads easier and is more pleasing to the eye. Also included into this update is a Compindex Manual, which shows in more detail the tests that Compindex comprises of and also whether or not a test can be administered on-screen, as well as time limits for each dimension.

Pibspeex will receive the same kind of attention with all the additional documentation. A full documentation update will also be released later in 2009.

Maintenance was done on the HR4ALL database. Now all users of Compindex and Pibspeex can Log on to hr4all to obtain any required information and to download version 25.00.

Enige CompIndex gebruiker met 'n bestaande instandhoudings kontrak, sowel as enige Internet gebruiker wat die Afrikaanse toetse wil gebruik, kan ons kontak vir 'n gratis CD met die instrumentasie.

Internet Versions

We have recently launched the Internet versions of the Speex and CompIndex systems. Functionally, the Internet versions have all the features found in the normal LAN versions. There are however, a few additional features, and the payment for the system is different. These are the issues that will be discussed below:

Additional features of the Internet version

The Internet versions of the SpeeX, CompIndex and Job Profiling Expert (JPE) systems work exactly the same as the normal versions of these systems. The only difference is that credits are subtracted whenever a candidate's assessment responses are scored, and when a Job profile is graded.

However, by virtue of the fact that the system connects to our Internet server to perform these tasks, we were able to add some additional functionality not possible in the standard version.

  • The Internet version has a comprehensive on-line help system. When you click on the help button - the latest help file is accessed directly from the internet. This makes it simple and easy for us to keep all users' help files current.
  • A company can register multiple "Locations" from where the system will be used. When registering a user profile per Location, you can specify if the Location should have access to the data from other locations. This feature makes it possible to assess people in one location and view their results in another location. All that is required is to access a simple download candidates function in the system, and choosing the results you want to download to your system. The software keeps track of who was assessed where, and you will only see a list of people that were assessed in different locations.
  • Because we will be collecting vast amounts of data on the Internet server, we envisage a sophisticated norm update service in future releases.
  • We are also planning a Job profile download service, where we make generic job profiles available for download, and fine-tuning for your specific situation.

Payment for Internet version usage:

For the normal version you purchase the system once, and may then use it on an unlimited basis within the organisation for which it was purchased.

The internet version works on a payment per usage basis. It is therefore much cheaper to start out. In addition you may use it to assess people outside of the organisation for which the system was originally purchased, as long as the user of the system has been properly trained.

The annual maintenance levied on users of the normal system, is not applicable to Internet version users. We absorb the maintenance cost within the per usage charge. You may therefore upgrade to the latest version all the time, without incurring any additional costs. When you connect on-line (to score results etc.) the system will also check its version against the one on our server, and alert you of maintenance and critical updates that are available.

Costing of the Internet credits will be on a sliding scale, where users that use the system intensively will pay increasingly less per credit as time goes by.

We also have special starter packs, containing larger numbers of credits, that will be more cost effective for users who intend using the system on a large scale .

Who should use the normal system

Although we intend signing most new users up to the Internet version, We don't envisage that the internet version will be the best option for all users. Organisations who will be assessing large numbers of people, will continue to find the normal version more cost effective, especially if they don't need the benefit of being able to access data from different locations.

Speex and CompIndex

This is the first Post for the Speex and CompIndex products.
The idea is that this will be the first stop for up to date information on the systems. It is also envisaged that the newsletters - usually written by Dr Pieter Erasmus will be replaced by regular Blog contributions.
